八、used to , had better, would rather 的用法比较:

①used to 表示过去的习惯动作或状态,现在已不存在,其否定陈述句和否定疑问中,一般用 didn't use to 均可;而且,used to 还可与 never, often, always 等连用。注意:used to 与 be used to 的不同,后者表示 be accustomed to “习惯于某种状态” , 如:

He used to drink.

He is used to wine (He is used to drinking wine) at eachmeal.

You had better not follow his behavior.

③would rather 意思是“宁愿”,表示选择,肯定句后直接跟动词原形,其否定句是 would 后加 not, 即 would not rather+动词原形;由于 would rather 表示选择,其后可路 than, 如:She would rather go home. /Susan wouldn't rather stay here with him. /She would rather sleep than talk rubbish.
