Why Shouldn't Children Dig Their Navels?

Some children like to dig their navels. This is a bad habit. The navel is a scar left after cutting off the umbilical cord. The skin in the navel is delicate and easy to tear. In that case, the germs on the skin or hands would reproduce there and cause an infection. Sometimes it may cause peritonitis, when the germs go into the stomach through the blood vessels. If your navel is dirt-y,, you should wash it with water, and never dig your navel with your hands.
