How Are Echoes Made?

When we shout, the sound goes in all directions. When it touches a high wall, it reflects. The reflected sound travels a longer distance than the sound we hear. So, we always hear the real sound first and then the reflected sound. This reflected sound is known as an echo. When we talk in a room we are very close to walls and our voice overlaps the reflected sound, so we cannot hear the echo. If we talk in a big room, we can hear the echo. If you stand on a mountain top and shout towards the mountains facing you, you will hear the echo.
